Following reforms made enacted in December 2014 granting women equal rights to confer nationality to non-national spouses, Niger established equal nationality rights for women and men. Niger made partial reforms to advance gender equal nationality rights in 1999, when the country established women’s right to confer nationality to their children on an equal basis with men.
